Portal 2 Review: I would say the cake is a lie but there is no cake in this game.

Okay so Portal 2 was if I'm remembering correctly one of the first games I got for my PS3. I didn't know what it was all I knew was the concept, kind-of. See I wasn't very smart gaming wise back in 2011 when it came out. I usually didn't know anything about the games I got I usually just got them. But man did I chose a good one with this game.

Portal 2 is easily one of the best games ever made, and possible on the top ten of best sequels ever. The game focuses on your ability to shoot two portals and travel between them. The game had very realistic physics and if you don't have a good understanding of physics then you might not ever beat the game without a walkthrough. Portal 2 compared to it's predecessor has a much more in depth single player campaign and adds a co-op mode with a completely different campaign. This game also comes with a great techno soundtrack and is crammed with content. And if you got the version on PC then it came with a free level editor so you could play other peoples levels and make your own!

Level design wise, this game has a perfect sense of progression. Every level you play will expect you to figure it out. The game hates helping you and will constantly make fun of you for getting stuck. Normally though that would be a bad thing but the game does it in such a way that it's funny and enjoyable. The game doesn't just give you puzzles and call it a day. This game provides one of the best stories I have ever experienced in a game. Very few times have I went through a deadly laboratory and just after defeating my enemy on my way out felt like I didn't want it to end.
Oh and if you caught that part from the last sentence about a deadly laboratory then let me explain. The entire game you aren't just trying to solve puzzles, you're solving puzzles to survive. A crazy ai named GLaDOS runs Aperture Science which is the building where the game takes place. Every test usually is made to kill you. The farther you go the deadlier they become. If you wish to beat the singleplayer you'll have to think outside the box. But if you're playing with a friend you will have to think of a way to make it through puzzles without giving in to the massive urge of killing your partner. (trust me, it's hard)

Not many games have hooked me for as long as this game has. And it honestly sucks that the company that made it isn't interested in making any more of them. This game gets a 10/10 and gets my personal game of the year for 2011.

Sonic Adventure Review: IT'S THE WORST GAME EVER???????!

This game was Sonic's big jump to 3D and it's time for me to give my opinion on it.
First off let me get one thing off my chest, this game (IN MY OPINION) sucks. This game however is almost so bad, that it's good. If you want to see how bad the game is I have put videos on the side so that what I talk about makes sense
What was meant to be a big step for the future of Sonic became the beginning of the end. The game doesn't feel very good to play. Sonic's controls just don't feel very finished, which can be said about the entire game. Sonic is made to go fast, but some levels will have him go at high speeds, and then suddenly make you perform precise platforming which he's not made for. Oh and before you forget, this game is broken. Nothing in this game works, almost every action you do could break this game. If you go above a loop like you could in the classic Sonic games the level will start freaking out and you might even fall through the level. A majority of my deaths in this game were not from the difficulty of the level, it was me falling through the level. Simple hallways that are just meant for you to run down become actually difficult to traverse. Halfway down the hallway you could be pulled toward a wall and then fall into the abyss below the level.
The game also has multiple characters for you to play as and although they aren't as broken as Sonic they all find a way to make you not have fun, such as the Big the Cat stages. I don't understand how this game was shipped out in such an unfinished state. The game even without the bugs would still be a mess. The lip sync was absolutely terrible. The story was a complete joke. This game should be forgotten forever. If Sonic continues in this direction like he has with the recent Sonic Forces then maybe Sonic should go away.

Sonic Mania: A TRUE BLAST FROM THE PAST PEOPLE IT'S MIND BLOWING WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE EARTHS ROTATION AND HOW WITHOUT SONIC WE WOULD ALL BE LOST AND JUST DRIFT ALONE IN SPACE WITHOUT ANY MEANING???!!!?!?!?!!??!

Okay so lets discuss why this game is important to the Sonic franchise.

Sonic is one of the biggest icons in gaming and yet it seems like people have reached this point where Sonic is either just good or just bad. And due to how cluttered the Sonic franchise is on what type of game it is nobody really knows what makes a true Sonic game. This game for at least a month or two revitalized the series and showed people why Sonic used to be the best in the biz.

When Sonic came out he didn't just contend with Mario, He BEAT Mario. Sonic didn't just come out and say, "hey I'm here to be your rival Mr. Mario." Sonic came out and said, "give me that crown you fat plumber your reign is over boy! Gotta catch up with me if you want to win chump!" 3 main Sonic entries came out and worked on the 2D formula that was close to perfection. But once the 3D era was approaching every big franchise was making the big jump in that direction. And unlike Mario Sonic didn't transition to 3D very well. And he got stuck in a state of continually pushing out rushed and poorly made games. But a team of fans got the chance to make the Sonic game of their dreams. And what do I think about it?

IT'S A MASTA PIECE PEOPLE!!!!!

I never thought there could even be the possibility of a sonic game better that the classic games on the Sega Genesis! But they did it! Everything about the game just works! It's truly a callback to what people loved about sonic originally. Even though some of the levels are repeats from past Sonic games it doesn't matter as new flare and gimmicks have been added to make them feel brand new. The new levels are amazing and very memorable. They all ooze creativity and new life and honestly that's all that required. Sonic's momentum based movement works even better than it did before and is even more fun with Sonic's new drop dash ability allowing him to gain momentum after a jump.  Everything about the game is awesome and if it weren't for Sonic Forces I'd say that Sonic is finally back.

Super Metroid Review: A BLAST TO THE... future?

This is by no means a new game. But I wanted to give a review for it so here it is.

Super Metroid is probably one of the most atmospheric games ever created. You play as Samus Aran and are given one single objective: retrieve the last metroid from Ridley. The game doesn't tell you how to play or where you should go. You are completely alone on a planet full of creatures that want nothing more than your head on a silver platter. The game gives a great sense of progression and most of the upgrades in the game are completely optional. It has been regarded as one of the best games ever created and for good reason. This game also shares half of it's own genre called the Metroidvania.                       (Metroid & Castlevania just so u know!)

See most games at the time gave you simple objectives and presented very simple gameplay. All you had to do was get from point A to point B and follow the narrow line that the developer had set for you to follow. Mario just went to the right and jumped on a few flagpoles to save his princess. Samus had to explore a planet and stop space pirates, a living brain, discount Godzilla, and a freakin pterodactyl. The game wasn't about going from point A to B, it was about figuring out where point B even was. If you don't have a good memory then this game is your worst nightmare, the entire game is built on memory. It's a bad idea to play this game every once in a while since you'll most likely forget whether you were trying to go to the underwater maze of Maridia, or the blazing Norfair. The game excels at making the player feel alone. The sound effects in the game feel crisp and satisfying but echoed and quiet. The music is a dreary, subtle, and overall leaves you with the feeling of loneliness. All around the audio was designed to sound like its being played in a giant cave, echoed and quiet. the colors are far more dull and dark than the first two metroids before this one. Zebes feels dead, and as you get deeper the enemies become stronger but less in numbers until nothing is left but dust. This planet is dying, and you've got front row seats to witness it.
I actually only first played this all the way through about 5 months ago. However I grew up on the other titles in the series so yeah, that proves something. There really aren't many games like Super Metroid and the few like it can't capture the same amount of fun this game provided.

Nuthin but Metroid Zero Mission beats this game.
I give Super Metroid a 9.5 out of 10

A Hat in Time Review: BETTER THAN SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY?!?!?!

This isn't just a click-bait title I really do mean it. This to me is better than Super Mario Odyssey. This game touched me on a more personal level and has actually made me a happier person since.
I made this post a little longer just so I could give this game the praise it deserves.

Not many indie games really peak my interest. Most of them just don't grip me enough to make me even want to finish them. And after a while indie games in general to me just become this boring mass of uninspired broken tech demos. I have tried many times to find a game that would quench my gaming needs. Whether it's a metroidvania 2d platformer or a rpg I had hope that the community that grew up on the same games as me would make pick up the hammer and build us the games that we fantasized about as kids. But every time I played these highly rated indie games I would be disappointed time and time again.
However there have been a handful of games that have sparked my interest and got my interest till the end. And even I consider these games as classics

I'd have to say that one of the first indie games I really got into was Undertale. This game is one of the only rpgs I've ever finished. It really got me with the great characters and memorable locations that you explore. The characters you met felt so real and you got to really see their personalities and struggles in their life. It was lighthearted but overwhelmingly sad at the same time. The game even made you take responsibility for your actions. If you did something by accident not even restarting the game would make the game forget. And after 32 hours in the game I can safely say that it's on my top 100 games of all  time.
But what does this have to do with A Hat in Time?

Well A Hat in Time hit me the same way that Undertale did. The characters in the game give the same charm and loveability that Undertale did. Although A Hat in Time doesn't have the sense of dread and meaninglessness looming over the player like Undertale did. A Hat in Times goal isn't to make the player depressed, it's simply to give a good time. The game itself takes after Super Mario Sunshine and other 3d platformers that came out around that time. The game prides itself with it's art style and cute as heck nature. For goodness sake this little girl is named "Hat Girl" and you can blow kisses and raspberries at people. This game never falls short on creativity, whether it's a town only populated with mafia that only refer to each other as "mafia" instead of using names or a movie studio were you help fuel two movie producers in their feud between one another. The game give you tons to do and doesn't tell you how to do any of it. You could be given a mission and completely ignore it and do something else on the other side of the map.
I simply can't get enough of this game and luckily for me they are adding 2 more worlds on top of the 5 already in the game! A Hat in Time fills that large hole in me I never fully realized was there. I give it a solid 10/10 and my personal Game of the Year award!

Super Mario Odyssey Review, TOO MUCH WATER?!?!

Hey there, you actually reading this? okay then, lets see what i got...
Mario Odyssey is the best 3D Mario to date. the end
11/10

If only I could be that shallow with my review, but this game is so good that I must give it a review that it deserves. Okay just so you know this won't be a fully objective review, I'm just gonna gush about why I love this game.

So let's get started with the freegin review people! Lets start off simple, so the game doesn't waste your time with some long intro like some of the other 3D Mario games like...
this

Super Mario Odyssey throws right into the Princesses capture and then BAM you start playing. Every world that you enter just explodes with creativity. From the way that Mario runs to the amount of moves that Mario is capable of everything that you do in the game just feels good. After years of the same exact locations and characters it's awesome to see a game packed with the same creativity that made everyone love Mario in the first place. Even after I beat the game I still feel like I've just barely touched all of the great stuff that the game is hiding. Even after the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo blows me away once again.

Every world gives you all sorts of new gameplay elements but unlike most AAA games they don't overstay their welcome. That leads me to another thing this game does. The game does a ton of things that are just purely for your enjoyment, which almost no AAA games do now. This game makes you think outside the box and is easily one of the best games of the year.
